Sanitation & Recycling

Our city currently has 18 sanitation workers running seven sanitation trucks 5 days a week to keep the City of West Fargo clean. Sanitation Manager, Thomas Clark, and his crew are committed to providing convenient and affordable residential and commercial solid waste services to the citizens of West Fargo.

Seasonal Updates

Beginning Monday, June 4, the Public Works Department will pick up branches curbside on garbage day. When placing branches for pick up, please keep in mind that branches should NOT be placed next to mailboxes or vehicles or on concrete or over sprinklers. Branches should be in lengths of 4-feet or less, but do not need to be bundled. Additionally, there is no need to request pick up of branches, since the truck will run with the garbage collection.
The City of West Fargo can no longer collect compost materials (grass, leaves, garden waste, etc.) at the curb. Please dispose of your compost materials at one of the four compost sites located throughout the city.

Sanitation & Recycling

Residential garbage curb side pick up costs $13 a month. To ensure your garbage and recycling is picked up on your designated day, please have your receptacles out by 7 a.m. on your collection day.

For a calendar of holiday schedule changes and the weekly recycling rotation, please view the 2018 Recycling Rotation and Holiday Schedule chart.

Sanitation Zones Map for Collection Day

To determine your weekly collection day, find your address in the Sanitation Zones Map (PDF). The day of the week your address appears in is your collection day. The color your address appears in, green or gold, determines the weeks your recycling will also be collected based on the adjacent recycling schedule.
